I like that a lot. The bartender themselves are the vital ingredient, most
bars sell the same liquor at around the same prices. The bartender is the one
to keep them coming back. Your individual recipes, techniques, and practices
are but mere variables compared to the real contents of your drink.
I enjoy that your bourbon and coke is better than jo blows down the street,
with all that said; I believe the recipe is very important also. Imagine the
drastic difference between a Silver tequila margarita with fresh lime juice
and the works; and a gold tequila margarita with rose's lime juice. Without
the history of this cocktail, we would be none the wiser, and this drink would
likely be renamed, mutated, and gone forever. So in short, I think it's
better to ease on your own "style" sometimes to not stray to far away from
original intent.
