www.webtender.com has been hosted by the Pittsburgh based web hosting company pair Networks, Inc. since February 1997. From 1995 to 1997 it was hosted on a server owned by Programvareverkstedet (PVV) at the university I studied at, but had to move because of the traffic.
One of the reasons The Webtender use pair Networks is that they provide an excellent service. They are also one of the best-connected web hosting providers in the World, with multiple high-speed connections to several different major US backbone networks. This give The Webtender web site a superior uptime.
Until December 2000 www.webtender.com was hosted on one of several hundred powerful shared servers that pair Networks operate, but was then moved to a dedicated server and the pair Networks QuickServe dedicated hosting solution with 24/7 monitoring and support.
The current server is a custom built 2.1 GHz Intel® Core™2 Duo E6420 system with 2GB of RAM, running the FreeBSD operating system. In an average day it will serve around 2 gigabytes. In addition to running the webserver for webtender.com and several other domains, it also run a MySQL database server and handle several thousand e-mail messages (with full spam and virus scanning) every day.
If you have questions regarding The Webtender's experience with pair Networks, either their shared or dedicated hosting solutions, and the above isn't enough to convince you that they are the best, feel free to contact me.
