My friends mother-in-law, just handed me dried sugar cane juice.

Goya makes two products. One is called "Piloncillo," which is available
mainly in Mexico. The other product is called "Panela," which is available in
the rest of the Latin world, and American grocery stores. They are shipped in
a solid block not a liquid form. They both are a dark brown (which is
probably the molasses). You can dissolve either in cold water. But both will
dissolve faster in warm water.

I know Panela is available in Houston, Texas, grocery stores. Let me know if
you have trouble finding it.
