There is no universal standard.The International Bartenders Assocication has
a list of some drinks that I suppose their membership uses as a standard.Just
as in cooking recipies vary by ingredients and amount from cook to cook it's
the same with drinks.Trust your taste and experiment or ask your customer how
they like them.

a cl is a centiliter or 100th of a liter,a ml is a mililiter or 1000th of a
liter.a half gallon is 1.75 liter or 1750 ml.If you ever see dl it's a
deciliter or 10th of a liter.
As far as finding the original recipe ,on most cocktail that have been around
for a while you will find as many stories to their origin as there are
variations
