If you ask for Kirsch (meaning a fruit brandy, not a cherry liqueur), there
are some brands well-known overhere in Germany (where a lot of kirsch is
produced), but I wouldnŽt recommend to order them at "Internet Wine &
Spirits", because they are too overprized. Examples: Kammer Black Forest
Kirsch: 43$ at W&S to 12$ over here, Schladerer 49$ to 19$, Dettling 60$ to
28$. I donŽt know how these Internet shops calculate, how much taxes etc.
differ from those here, but it seems like you are paying a lot for shipping,
webdesign and other stuff you didnŽt ask for. If youŽre writing from the U.S.,
you may try some kirsch from local fruit distilleries; try
http://www.stgeorgespirits.com or http://www.clearcreekdistillery.com. They
are not cheap, but I think here youŽll pay more for the product and less for
the rest.
