Subject: ettiquete - ok 2 ask guests 2 move over seat for new guests?

Hi, I have a lot of regulars coming into my bar...usually every person/couple
leaves a seat spacing between the next guest; but when the rush comes; I ask
people politely if they mind moving over a seat to make room for a couple if
possible.
The regulars love the courtesy but I can tell sometimes the other guest might
move a little grudgingly; but I've never had an actual complaint.

I do it very courteously so it's never really a problem; but I'm wondering if
this is okay bartender etiquette? Or is this something that the tender should
stay out of and instead the customers responsibility to ask the guest to move
a seat over?
