Hi,
A quick websearch revealed no product that would be directly called Bombay
rum...I know rum is distilled in India (Sikkim is one brand if memory serves
me right), but have not met a product with this name. But world is full of
funny and fantastic product names - I have seen a product called "Martinique
rum" and the label stated "country of origin varies"...! Another good one was
a rum coctail mix called "Tobago" (sold in New Zealand at least) - has nothing
to do with Trinidad and Tobago...
Here's a few recommendations regarding rum btw...see what you think. Note: I
am basing my recommendations on sipping style, not how well they work in mixed
drinks and coctails....some may not be here simply cause I havent' tried them
as yet.
Exceptionally good Dark Rums:
Appleton Extra, 12 yo and 21 yo. (Jamaica)
El Dorado 15 yo Special reserve (Guyana)
Angostura 1824 (Trinidad)
Mt. Gay Extra Old (Barbados)
Very, very good Dark Rums:
Barbancourt 15 yo (Haiti)
Pampero anniversario (Venezuela)
Santa Teresa 15 yo Solera (Venezuela)
Havana Club 7 (or was it 8) yo (Cuba)
Bacardi 8 yo (blend of rums from many sources including at least Trinidad)
Personally have been always very disappointed with Martinique style rums
agricolee's...Dillon Tres Vieux, Clement Vieux...not worth recommending, not
to mention the awful Negrita or rhum Pecoul...!
But do keep in mind: If it pleases your palate, then its good for YOU.
Everyone's entitled to drink whatever pleases them and should not try and
change personal taste just cause someone doesnt agree with it.
My philosophical thought of the day...
