The Long Island Iced Tea (not "Ice" Tea) is known to be popular in the 1970s
and invented by a man named Robert Butts in Long Island, NY, however there are
versions in the 1920s during the American Prohibition. Sometimes people don't
use the simple syrup and put a little more triple sec in for sweetener.

- When you squeeze lemons you get lemon juice.
- When you mix and heat half water and half sugar until the sugar melts it
makes simple syrup. Simple syrup is used in cocktails because real sugar
doesn't melt very well (like when you drink iced tea and sugar thne the sugar
drops to the bottom).

- When you mix one part lemon juice and one part simple syrup it's called sour
mix.

The LIIT (Long Island Iced Tea) use sour mix and cola as their mixer. When a
drink has the name "Tea" in it it implies that it has a lot of alcohol that
you can't taste.

Hope this helps.
