The basic ideas are very straightforward and trivial.

One easy option is to mix different brews. It is not uncommon among brewers 
and especially employed in those beers made with wild yeasts which have a 
naturally high acidity level. In your case it is the sweetness requiring 
blending.

When mixing with liquor you may think of getting a balance between the 
harshness of alcoholic strength and the softness of sugar. Many strong beers 
combine these two features together, sweetness and strength. The type of 
liquor seems not very relevant. It depends much on the flavour of the beer and 
on the preferences.

Other mixing possibilities are dilution with low sugar or low flavour 
components. Or adding components with higher acidity. Juices or soda's are an 
example.
