Are the cashiers getting tipped out?  If so, then I would discuss the 
possibility of getting tipped out from the cashiers - 1-2% of sales typically.

If the cashiers don't get tipped then you're fighting a losing battle.  You 
have cashiers that work their ass off for no tips and bartenders that work 
their ass off for half a nights tips - the owner is not going to be 
sympathetic towards you wanting more money.

If mostly everyone else seems ok with the setup, I think I would start looking 
for another place to work.  However, if those half night tips work out to $100 
/ night or more, I would probably stick around since the vibe and atmosphere 
are cool.
