I came across this, I thought you'd appreciate it.

In drinkology the art and science of the cocktail by james waller in 2003

it says this about this gimlet:
"The gimlet is a wonderful drink-and, weirdly, it's actually better when
prepared with roses lime juice than with a fresh squeezed lime. If you
insist on using fresh lime juice, keep the proportions the same but add a
little powered sugar or a half teaspoon of simple syrup to the mix

lime wedge
2 1/2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce rose's lime juice"
