Hmmmm...I would cut off the word "Martini" out of this recipe and just leave 
"French", for shure this can not be called "Martini". 
Officially there's no trace of "French Martini", but I guess it could be 
prepared using french vermouth( Lillet, or Nolly Prat) instead of italian,but 
this is it, when you start using other ingredients the cocktail must change 
name, just because you serve it in a stemmed cocktail glass doesn't mean it 
becomes a "martini" by default.
