I'm glad you said peachtree peach schnapps. Peach Liqueur has been around
alot longer than you may know. Infact, as pictured in Ted Haigh's "vintage
spirits and forgotten cocktails" DE KUYPER Peach Liqueur circa 1950. Dekuyper
now makes "peachtree schnapps" and as you well know, the difference between
Schnapps and Liqueur is spelling.

AHA! My books are heavily damaged but it does clearly state "Copyright 1982,
American Bartenders School, Inc. California" I was off by two years, although
this still predates the 1984 recipe.

In all fairness, it is a "bartenders school" guide, which has little
credibility. Because we all know about those assholes who run bartenders
schools ahem

I have many, many, many articles that directly conflict what is considered
"accepted" knowledge of many things, including the history of the origin of
the word cocktail itself.

and Jerry Thomas's Book was not the first book to outline drink families, I'm
sure you know that though. I could rant for years about how most, nearly all,
bartenders are sheep, but this is off topic.

No question, it is very easy to see how this drink evolved. Do you deny TGIF's
is responsible for this drinks popularization?

I also have always made this drink this way. I have never used the chambord
version because I do not believe in drink "Variations". It either is, or it
is something else.

Cheers!

p.s. Someone said this drink was going to be buried (some ceremony I have no
clue about) during tales of the cocktail.
