Hey there - I have been playing with this drink I had at Fulton's Crab House in Orlando (Downtown Disney) and I have an update, of sorts. BACK STORY: I ordered a martini called "Pop-Rocks" like in the candy and got this wonderful fruity mixture delivered. I begged for the recipe and got: 1 oz ea. citron vodka, mixed berry vodka, mango liqueur, 0.5 oz ea cranberry and sour mix. PRESENT DAY: I translated the ingredients to what I have available here in the Pacific Northwest ie, Absolut Citron, Finlandia Wild Berries, and for the mango liqueur I picked X-Fusion cuz it was "mango-ish" and pretty. Cranberry, I like to use Ocean-Spray Lite (less sugar, more cranberry taste) and I make my own Sour Mix (1 part ea of Sugar, Water, Lemon and Lime). But what to do about the Pop-Rocks part? In Orlando, I got a lemon wedge but this started me thinking...why do we call it Pop-Rocks if no Pop-Rocks are in it? So I tried floating Pop-Rocks candy on top of the drink (as suggested by deep research aka Google) and no-go: the candy sinks to the bottom and coagulates. That would be a "FAIL". So today I tried rimming the glass in Pop-Rocks (Watermelon flavor...lack of choice) and we have a WINNER! Aside from the errant Pop-Rock flinging itself into space, we have a nice drink rimmed in candy that still pops in the mouth - followed by a very flavorful cocktail.
