

The simplest solution to this is to pour a jigger of vodka into a measuring
cup - the required amount as set by the boss - and then pour that over ice.
If the vodka is room temp as mentioned above, some of the ice will melt.
Then, if you're really confident about this, repeat the free pour method. The
results should be the same.
PS: Your situation here is an example of why I never free pour. First, the
customer will always know what they're getting. And.second, the boss knows
what you're doing..exactly. Problems solved - no overpouring, no
shortchanging...everybody's happy.
