"Straight" means that the whiskey (rye, bourbon,Tennesee, corn, etc.) has been
bottled from a distillation that has not been blended with any other whiskey
or neutral grain spirit.Any "straight" whiskey must be distilled from a 51
percent base of a single grain.
"Light" whiskey is usually made from a very high percentage of corn, and is
aged in uncharred casks or previously used casks, these whiskeys have less
flavor intensity than "straight" ones and they are used mainly for blending.
Cheers
