Subject: Are Bartenders generally always 1099 Contractors?
From: JMWhiteIV

Is this a common thing, for Bartenders? Filing a 1099 instead of the regular
W-2? and is this generally considered a good thing, or a bad thing? Is this
Standard for Bars/Nightclubs, or is this a case of my employer just trying not
to have to pay some taxes?

I'm asking because my job gave me a 1099 form to fill out. This is my first
Bartending Job, and I'd never before worked at a place that *did not* use W-2s.
