oh so a pineapple upside down cake is not

All the recipes I googled for Dead Nazi are not what is in a Liquid Cocaine so
I'm confused about that one. I don't have to look up Wedding Cake and
Pineapple Upside Down Cake because they do not have the same ingredients
either, so I'm confused why you would give examples that don't fit your point.
Coffee Nudge (in the Northwest) vs Keoke Coffee (in the South)...okay, that's
probably more like what you meant, right?

anyway YOU're missing the point your not going to

> 1/2 ounces medium-bodied jamacian rum
> 1/2 ounce 151-proof demerara rum
> 1/2 ounce donn's mix #1 (cinnamon syrup & fresh squeezed grapefruit)
> 11/2 ounces of fresh squeezed orange juice
> 3/4 ounce of fresh squeezed lime juice
> 1 teaspoon of grenadine
> 2 dashes of angostura bitters
> 6 drops of absinthe
> 3 mint sprigs for garnishes

Dale has done great research, but he will also be the first to tell you that
not everyone knows everything... including him. I could call him up and ask
him about this recipe and compare the dates to pre-authoring his second book
of which you speak of (which is about a year ahead), but it's not an important
enough question to bother him. When I see him in a few weeks I'll ask in
person if I remember. Jeff Berry's dates and Dales may be off a little, but I
agree with Dan that this tiki drink isn't worth defending too far. However I
do respect the time, effort, and energy Jeff Berry dedicated to the research
of this tiki drink as well as many others. It's his forte, not Dales.

Personally, I've never made this drink and I probably won't unless I work in a
craft tiki bar. Why are you worried about it if you say you only get 3 orders
a year for it? Why not just say that the bar doesn't carry the ingredients to
make it? Or maybe give it another name of sorts. Is it on your menu?

I did put an original Mai Tai and a Copycat Mai Tai in my latest book doing
exactly what you speak of about substituting ingredients less commonly found
in your average bar. Example: Most bars do not carry orgeat, so amaretto is
substituted. Most bars don't carry orange curacao, so triple sec is
substituted, etc.

I see you live in LA. Are you coming to Tales? If you are, lemme know, so we
can get together so I can buy you a drink, because you seem very angry.

Cheers!
