Subject: Impressing the boss...

Hi!

I'm a new poster here, though I've been reading posts for the last month or so.

I realize this is a question that is old hat to most of you, but any advice
would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the situation-

I have no direct bartending experience. I have beer and wine from my casino
days, and I've been a barista, but no mixing... A job came up at a place
here, and even though he said he required experience and only serious
applicants should apply, I decided to give it a shot. I was very upfront with
the boss about my lack of experience, but pointed out my transferable skills
and that I learn quick. At this point, the boss, who is a very large, Ron
Jeremy looking guy with a heavy Russian accent, begins rummaging through a
drawer, tosses a bar tending guide at me, and says-

" I NO LIKE TO TEACH. I NO GOOD AT THE TEACH. GO. LEARN SOMETHING. YOU
COME DAY AFTER TOMORROW. FIVE O'CLOCK. WE WILL SEE."

And then after pointing out that he was trying another girl out the next day,
but he liked me and wanted to try me out because I was much cleaner, and
rambling for a bit about how he was glad I'm a LADY, BECAUSE THE LADIES ARE A
GOOD FOR THE BUSINESS, the interview(?) was over.

And so I am supposed to turn up tomorrow- a Friday night- armed only with a
bartenders guide, and somehow manage to convince this guy that I am the one he
wants...

Now then. If I were to memorize about 10 things from this book before
tomorrow, which ones should I choose, besides the obvious jack and cokes and
the like?

And- what else might I learn or need to know before tomorrow night about being
behind the bar that might endear myself to this guy?

Anything at all helps...really!

Thank you all a jillion in advance!

-Erin
