I just graduated from bartending school in Feb. and started my first job at
Olive Garden. You will learn a lot of recipes, get some behind bare
experiance, and have a lot of fun. But, like a lot of the people in the forum
have said in their posts, there is no substitute for experiance, and I found
that is what managers really want. Expect to start low on the totum poll in
an unlucrative position unless you get lucky. I had one manager I interviewed
with tell me he liked graduates from schools because they had not learned the
bad habits (theft, laziness) that professionals had learned, in his experiance
anyway. That was 1 in the 10+ places I talked to. If you really want to
bartend and have no server experiance, like me, then it will help because you
have something as opposed to nothing. Dont expect a lot on your first jobs
though, despite the claims of your school. It will take time to build a
resume, which is what I have learned is what is important.
