Subject: Learning in a job that doesn't serve a variety of drinks
From: acepack

So I've got my first bartending job, working in a private club. The hours are
good, money ok, and the drinks not too difficult.

The last part is part good, part bad.

Basically, as I said in another thread, they order a lot of wine and a ton of
drinks on the rocks. Sometimes I get an order for a margarita or something,
but more times than not it's a pretty basic drink. I haven't served one shot
(and don't expect to serve many) and have barely served any highballs or other
kinds of drinks.

Question I have: How can I educate myself on making other drinks and learn
things that will be served in a club or general bar? I'm dying to learn, and I
worry, whenever I leave here, I won't be sharp enough on more popular drinks
to impress another manager.
