I would bet it's mostly the sour mix you've been using. I hate bottled sweet
and sour from the store so I make my own. I juice lemons and limes and make
some simple syrup and then I combine the two ingredients until I have the
taste I like... I've found that some people like a long island (every sour
drink for that matter) that's a bit more sour and others like it a little
sweeter so experiment a little to find exactly what you like. Keeping the
juice and syrup seperate allows you to keep it longer as the juice will spoil
quickly while the syrup will stay good in the fridge for quite some time. Also
try going lighter on the tequila if you want to cut down on how "strong" it
tastes. Cheers.
