The recipe listed on this site is outdated for several reasons, so I'm
changing it up a little.
In a cocktail shaker w/ ice, put
3 oz Gin (the original recipe calls for Gordon's which is actually lower
proof today than it was when James Bond invented this drink, in
the "Casino Royale" novel. Tanqueray would be a suitable substitute.)
2 oz Vodka (Smirnoff was a favorite of Bond's, and is available in either
80, 90, or 100 proof. The higher the proof, the better, in my opinion)
1 oz Lillet Blanc (again the original calls for Kina Lillet, but the
company no longer makes Kina Lillet, and the closest modern equivalent is
Lillet Blanc.)
Dash of bitters (not essential, except to get as close to the original
flavor of the drink as possible, since Lillet Blanc is supposedly not quite as
dry as Kina Lillet.)
Shake these ingredients very well, until ice cold. Strain into a very large,
chilled martini glass. Garnish w/ a lemon twist (a slice of peel).
