My concern is not so much as an employer, but as an employee. You are both
totally right, there are lots of ways to make sure you get good people, but
the truth is most od the people in a position to do the hiring don't know how
to do it. They will hire people who have been to bartending school, which we
all know is usually a waste of time and money. And my concern with other
professional organizations is that they are open to anyone with the money, and
people hiring think that there is some sort of clout to beloning to these
groups.
Not only would what I am proposing be a benefit to bartenders, but I think
from the points you made, educating employers whould be a large focus as well.
Thanks for the input, this is exacly what I am looking for. More information
about what other people think will help and what won't.
Keep the comments coming please.
