Barbacking is a great way to learn bartending and yes, a barback is generally
tipped out by the bartender (our barback makes about 15-20% from EACH
bartender per shift and we have 2-3 bartenders on a busy shift...but we're
generous and he rocks). I believe Cheryl left a good link in her reply on the
other message board so I would check that out. Anyway keep in mind that being
tipped out is a courtesy (and a thank you for a job well done)and if you don't
do your job, or make the bartender's job harder, you won't make much. Good
luck with your hunt!
Oh yeah, be careful...you may love bartending so much you may not go back to a
day job...LOL It's been known to happen! ;-)
