Which part shocks you, the celebs getting away with it, or the clubs getting
away with it (or that they do it in the first place)?
As for the celebs, they can get away with almost anything? That's easy to
explain, celebs in this country are sorta like the royal family in England
(except better looking and more genetically diverse). The reason this stuff
happens is because many people want to be close to the celebs, know what's
happening with them, and copy them.
These clubs elevate their status by having celebs party there. For the clubs
that rely on this type of popularity, if they don't have a celeb of legal age,
it would actually be worth it to risk letting in a minor or two. The clubs
also get away with it, in all honesty, because it's really easy to grease the
palms of liquor agents who, employed by the state, make barely enough to
support themselves (especially living in that area). I laughed when I read
they only had 4 for the entire area :)
For those outside of the US, a little note, since it jumped out to me in the
article and some people might not know this. They mention that ID's are easy
to fake, a big part of that is that the primary form of identification in this
country is the state-issued driver's license, which is different from one
state to the next in all 50 states. Some states have updated the style of
driver's license as much as 3 times in 10 years (Oregon is my example for
that). A lot of door people are good at picking out a regular fake from their
own state, but when it's from another state, it's more difficult to catch.
