I've been here about 7 months now and just recently thinking of going the
union route. Gaming bar and grills can be fantastic money in the right spots,
places loaded with big gamblers in nice areas of town. The thing is with
these local bars with gaming, is that they are extremely female dominated. A
majority of the time a male bartender will end up on graveyard. Another thing
that may weigh against you at these local bars is that they are looking for a
local following and gaming experience. I had the gaming exp., but a local
following takes a lot of time. They want to know that you can bring in, not
drinkers, but most importantly heavy gamblers into the bar you're working.

The nightclubs are insane to get jobs at. Once again, very female dominated
behind the bar. These jobs are all about knowing the right person.

As far as flair goes in Vegas, you either are a flair bartender or you're not.
I've practiced quite a bit in the past, enough to gain a moderate talent for
it, but unless you're a hard core, competing flair bartender you probably
won't work at a flair bar. Besides, flair bars are about %1 of the bars in
Vegas, and flair is pretty much looked down upon in most bar scenarios.

All I can say is that it takes some time. There is a lot of money to be made
in this town, but it's the same gamble moving down here as it is visiting.
