Subject: Job Search Advice

I have recently been applying for bartending jobs in a popular resort town
(Ocean City, MD) that is about 30 minutes from my house. Although,, I didn't
get a bartending job at one major club, I ended up with a job there as a sound
person. Many of the bars I visited told me they don't have any positions open
or they have had the same bartenders for 7-10 years. One place told me they
have had the same bartenders for an average of 17 years! WTF.... Some of the
managers even got to the point of looking mad when I went to apply.

Anyways, here's my question. I'm a little afraid that my lack of experience
may be playing a role in this as well. I bartended for a year & a half until
last November. The only reason I stopped is because my bar went out of
business. I have found that there are 2 bars who are advertising for
bartenders at the momenet, but the problem is.. these bars are known for being
very low-class and not glamourous. I know for a fact that one of them is full
of rednecks who don't rarely tip. Should I go ahead and apply for these jobs
anyways just to get more experience for the future? The way it's looking now
is I will NOT be bartending this summer in the resort town. I may also apply
for some bars in my current town although it becomes a ghost town in the bar
scene because all of the college students leave.

Any advice?
