Your post points to the importance of finding your place behind a bar. I
don't find anything boring about making vodka-tonics and simple drinks for the
folks. I dig the moments when the 70 y/o man orders a sidecar or even a
perfect manhatten from me. I'm the farthest thing from flair and need to be
in an environment that allows me to leave pretense at the door.
Sounds like you may have fun and be more comfortable in a place that has a lot
of foofy drinks and has a "martini" menu. I am always struck when I see the
Friday's or Cheesecake Factory people having fun blending and shaking every
drink--I'd be miserable and a syrupy mess in the first hour :)
In the long run you'll make more money when you work in an environment that
makes you comfortable and brings out your personality. Good Luck.
