Hey I live in Arlington and went to ABC Bartending but I went to the one in Ft
Worth. IMO it was worth every penny, but I strongly believe you get what you
put into it. I go every saturday and some fridays to practice and you can't
really get that chance every where else. If you expect it to just land you a
job, it's not, you still have to pay your dues or lie.
Anyways shoot me an email sometime benkunze[at]gmail.com, I do a lot of private
parties and have a handful of bartenders who also work private parties for me,
$20/hour + tips, and always a lot of fun - I would have to interview you and
start you off working beside someone at a party that needs 2 bartenders, but
it's a great foot in the door. Also I know Dave and Buster's in Dallas is
hiring although their manager told me they only make $100/day so I ended up
somewhere that pays a bit better. Also there's a place right off 635 by the
Tollway called Skillman Pub & Bar that is hiring. But keep your head up and
keep trying. Also a good place to get experience is to go to the Meyerson
Symphony Hall downtown and apply as a banquet bartender, you'll get hired
right away. Or you can bartend at the Cowboys Stadium on game days in the
suites or standside, that's an easy gig to get that should be an easy $100
which isn't bad for starting.
