I've bartended in minnesota for 8-9 years and only went to a class two times 
in that amount of time.  It covered laws related to "how much is too much", 
cutting people off, what our legal liability is, etc.  It is not mandatory but 
the bar owner does get a break on his/her insurance and it is a really good 
idea.  All bartenders need to be aware that they are ultimately responsible 
for EVERYTHING that goes on in their bar.  We can be sued too folks, not just 
the owner.  You would be surprised how many bartenders don't know that!
