Direct-
Do you even know what a Mint Julep is? From the wording of your post it
doesn't seem like you do. But you are right, the method the guy uses is
totally unheard of. I thought he had confused the London-style Old Fashioned
with the Mint Julep. How many times did he scoop the crushed ice?
Barwizards-
The guy seemed to think that the Mint Julep was always made with Bourbon, and
that the recipe hadn't changed in 200 years. I have been looking and the Mint
Julep was made with Brandy or Rum; the Bourbon Mint Julep seems to be an
attempt by Kentucky Bourbon producers to re-write cocktail history (actually
Julep history, not cocktail!-).
No mention that the Mint Julep is a recipe that is made in a Multitude of
ways; mint in; mint out; mint syrup; mint infused bourbon; mint garnish only.
And of course no mention of Virginia Juleps nor Georgia Juleps.
And this guy was a head bartender, and the Julep was the signature drink of
All-star Lanes. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
Love those Buffalo Trace Julep Cups!!!
Look forward to the next episode; but please no more bloopers, they weren't
that interesting (except for you guys I guess).
As you were doing the show in two halves, would it be possible to have the
mixology on one half, and the flair on the other. That way I don't have to
watch the flairing. Thanks!
Cheers!
