The lack of references did occur to me, but it made sense as I had seen an
article recently wherein the writer referred to the "fact" that people
shouldn't drink Mint Juleps with straws nor strainer. I was wondering how the
strainer would be utilised while drinking a Mint Julep.

The second question would undoubtedly be, why is a drinking aid being used as
a serving aid?

As the "anti-snob of cocktails" I always question why people do this or that,
and ask for reasons; however it seems that the Julep strainer is not being
used for its originally purpose, so it is hard to know what to ask. Yes the
Julep Strainer can be used to hold back the ice in the mixing glass as a
libation is poured, but why not just use a hawthorn strainer? The Julep
Strainer is being used incorrectly, and it would be nice to kow why.

Cheers!

How do I pour? What is 'cl', 'oz' and 'pt'? How should I handle glassware?.
