Dear Laura , I don't think you should send your friend  a bottle, simply 
because here in Italy "Creme de cassis"  and black currant syrup are widely 
available in liquor stores, supermarkets, and wine stores,are you shure he/she 
looked in the right place for the right stuff? If you tell me in which part of 
Italy he lives, I'll send you an address where he or she will be able to find 
what is looking for.
