Why not??  If it's something you really want to do, go for it. I did it and 
I'm sort of around your age.  Check out the local VFW, Legion, Elks, other 
private clubs etc.  Personally, I think they're perfect venues for mature, 
beginning bartenders.  Good luck to you.
