Thanks for the advice, both posts have been helpful. Still can't help but feel
frustrated when I have done everything I can to follow the rules because I
usually enjoy the job and have fun with my co-workers during and after work.
Being accused of seriously mispouring when using a jigger I take alot of
offense to.
I was taught by an experienced bartender in my last job to ALWAYS pack the
glass with as much ice as possible. I have always followed that.
Also glad to hear others use a 4 count to pour an ounce, I brought this up to
my manager and was confused how a 4 count would equal 1.25oz, and how
according to these spotters I was essentially pouring .66oz-.93oz into a
jigger.
I have a feeling this info was filler for their report and I was an easy
target. Still sucks to be accused of doing your job wrong by someone that sits
at the bar for an hour or so and writes up a report accusing you of shafting
people, especially when you make every effort to follow every rule put in
place. If we were permitted to free-pour I would take this as constructive
criticism instead of total garbage written up and sent to management.
Maybe it's difficult to find quality spotters to work for you but this crosses
a line when ignorance of the situation puts me in a really bad light to my
managers especially when I take the job seriously and put forth my best effort.
