Subject: Swedish Licorice

Has anyone else come up with this recipe or am I the first?

1 1/2 parts vodka
1/2 part Green Chartreuse
1/2 part Absente (or similar)

stir or shake (really, it's not very good unless you're Swedish so what's the
difference?)
salt the rim of a cocktail glass
strain
serve

A friend of mine is Swedish and he periodically comes up with this Swedish
licorice which he has fooled me into trying a few times. I love licorice but
this stuff is nasty - spicy, salty and licoricey (if that's a word). Anyway,
he's crazy about this crap so I thought I'd try and come up with something
that mimics this licorice's nastiness. I didn't try it myself but he liked it
and said it was quite close to the taste of his licorice - that's why I didn't
try it.

Anyway, if you like that sort of this try it.

Don't anybody start preaching the virtues of Swedish licorice, it's nasty,
period, end of story. Besides, I'm sure there's something I love that'd send
you running for the hills - no problem - more for me.

L'chayim, y'all
