I have worked bars in both Texas and Oklahoma and , for the most part, bars
don't hire people from bartending school. They look for people with
experience from working their way up the food chain. Like earlier said, a
bartender is not an entry level position. I have many friends with masters
degrees or better who, as myself, have returned to tending for both money and
good hours. If you can start as a barback...do it! It will pay off before
you know it.
