48, 3 hour classes.  one per week.  Four sections to the classes.  Spirits, 
Cocktails, Beer,  and Wine.

Practice tests every week.  300 question final.  Final tests in jan. apr. jul. 
oct.  75% or better.

Seniority is key with placement into shifts. i.e. a bartender with more 
seniority will get the front bar, person with less seniority will get the 
service well.  stewards are mostly used for grievances and clearing up 
problems.

yes

> Are there still hiring halls for current union members?
yes, hiring hall is where the classes are taken.  i havent had any problem 
finding a union job in vegas.  they WANT us to work!!!

$40 for apprentices, $50 for bartenders

complete health benefits, best in nevada.  5 years with the union to become 
vested.

Bartenders local 165, we ride the coattails of Culinary 226.

Las Vegas, about 3000 in in bartenders union.  culinary has about 100,000 
members.
