Absinthe is illegal in the United States.  Liquors such as Pernod, and 
Anisette are used as substitutes, but I am not sure if they have the same 
proof.  If you want a strong drink use a strong liquor.  Grain alcohol such as 
Everclear is the strongest you can buy.
