How does that "make sense"? It doesn't matter which slip is signed and filed
at the bar, so long as a signature is affixed to a piece of paper that has the
customer's data on it, along with the price the bar charged. POS systems print
one with "merchant copy" and one with "customer copy" so that
servers/bartenders etc don't have to explain which copy goes to whom and that
it doesn't matter. They're identical in every way shape and form. (Although
some older systems print the whole CC number on one copy and a series of x's
on the other, because of identity theft, most states have outlawed the
practice of printing people's information, lest some unscrupulous shithead dig
through trash)
