Hi Ryan,
I only saw your post today, a little late, but I do have something to say. I
think the most important thing a bartender can do is learn to talk to the
people. Almost anyone can make drinks-that's why they have bartending books.
If you can develop a good line of patter, some (clean) all-purpose jokes, and
have something to say about a wide variety of topics, even if it's just an
intelligent question, you'll do fine. Make your bar a fun place to be, you'll
make more money, and people will come back, if only to see what silly or
interesting thing is going on that day.
Good luck,
BJ
