'creme de' is french for "cream of." While I'm sure Drinkboy (I love doing
this to you, Drinkboy) will leap to contradict me, effectively there is no
difference. As far as mass-market brands are concerned, liqueur and creme de
are interchangeable. At some point, though, and at the top levels, there is a
difference.
