I've been doing this since late July of last year.  I started at a local VFW 
and it's been good to me.  Also, I work 3 days a week as the bartender at the 
restaurant/tavern where I started out as a server.

Private clubs such as VFW's, Elks, Legions, etc. are great places to start 
building that resume.  They get you comfortable behind the bar, and being that 
they tend to be slow during the day, it gives you time to really study what 
you learned in bar school.  Just food for thought.  Good luck.
