Ok, old thread, but I now have an answer... :->
The U.S. manufacturers of Falernum "used" to be the Sazerac Company from New
Orleans (sazerac.com">www.sazerac.com, same folks that make Peychaud's Bitters). I
contacted them, and they apparently no longer make this, however, they did say
that they heard a company named "Da Vinci Gourmet" in Seattle was now making
this. Amazing coincidence, since I live in Seattle.
I quickly located the company, and indeed they make Falernum. Their website
is www.davincigourmet.com, and their toll-free order number (3 bottle minimum)
is (800)640-6779. I placed an order (should arrive in a couple of days), and
it was something like $27 for the three bottles.
I asked them how they got into making Falernum, and they said that a local
restaurant company, which owns/operates many of Seattles best restaurants, was
needing some since their regular supplier stopped making it.
I'm now searching for cocktail recipes that use Falernum, and so far have
only found the "Bermuda Rum Swizzle" (Rum, Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice, Lime
Juice, Falernum, Bitters), and a variation of the Mai Tai.
