We'll probably be buying a coffee machine in the near future (if it hasn't
been done already - it's planned, and I haven't been there since Sat. night,
so it very well could have been purchased by now), but for the moment no
kettle.
We don't have any ports, never had a request for hot whiskey, and we don't
serve tea or coffee, hot or cold (unless you count Kahlua). My bar is a high
volume nightclub - there are numerous other issues my bar has that would be
every bit as problematic if we were trying to be a serious cocktail lounge
(our backbar is absolutely PITIFUL for making drinks - but we don't need
anything else for our customer base). If I were to make a Sidecar, I'd have
to hand squeeze lemons into the shaker, we don't keep juice around. I
couldn't make a Negroni if I wanted to, no Campari. Same for a Vesper, no
Lillet. We have more flavors of vodka than we do brands of scotch or Canadian
whiskey (or whisky, if you prefer). Oh yeah - no simple syrup either.
It's a small little place, we have a limited selection, but what we have is
what our customers want. It's got a good atmosphere, good staff, and while it
may not be up to the par of Pegu club, it works.
