What do you mean by "better"? Better pay? More fun? More respect? Definitely
there's pluses and minuses to bartending, but I'd say (especially for males)
that bartending beats out serving in just about ever case. The money is
usually better (unless you're a female cocktail server, which can easily make
more than the bartender). Though, in an Italian restaurant, you're probably
going to be pretty reliant on the server's tip outs, so you may be better off
being the server. Bartending is definitely more fun than serving, but that
also depends on your personality. I like being busy, all of the time, and
always liked the feeling of digging myself out of the weeds and being forced
to multi-task. Most of the time, bartenders are a step up the ladder compared
to servers, so you'll probably get more respect but at the same time more
responsibilities.

Anways, congrats on your new position. At the very least you're going to gain
some valuable experience which can then be used to move up into an even better
bartending gig.

How do I pour? What is 'cl', 'oz' and 'pt'? How should I handle glassware?.
