Thanks for the advice, I'm sure you are right about the shooters.

I was talking to a couple friends that have been bartenders in the past, and 
everyone I spoke to was shocked that I would be asked to come in for 2 nights 
of 8hrs per shift without pay for a try-out. This particular bar is only open 
on the weekends and closed Mon-Thurs.

I had no idea, I thought this might have been a common thing with high-end 
popular bars, but it has been suggested that they might simply be understaffed 
on this particular weekend and looking for a 'gopher' to come in and do grunt 
work for free for a couple nights. Not much to lose here, and guess I could 
always walkout. Has anyone ever heard of this type of scenario - 2 shifts 
without pay on a weekend to see if they like you?
