can you tell me about seltzer?
where i can buy the small charge canisters?
what is the difference between seltzer and club soda?
can i use club soda in this seltzer bottle (big scotch and soda drinker)?
I'm not an expert on this so I may need correction. Seltzer bottles were a
way of carbonizing water. Cold water is put into the bottle and the carbon
dioxide bulb was inserted and punctured to allow the gas to charge the water
as well as to force it out the nozzle. Club soda is a commerical product
similar to this,The difference is, that soda water is used(water with a trace
baking soda in it)instead.
I would have to believe that if you put club soda in the bottle, nothing would
happen. If you charged it, you would be able to force the club soda out the
nozzle, but you would waste alot of the co2.
As for the carbon dioxide bulbs, you should be able to find them online. You
are most likely looking for the 8 gr. co2 bulbs. They are about 2.5 in. long
and can carbonate 1 qt. of cold water. Be aware of the co2 bulbs that are for
the 5 liter German keg(or homebrew keg) taps. They are about 3.5 inches long
and would not fit onto your seltzer bottle.
Hope this helps,
If anyone has anything to add, or to correct me please do so.
Scott
