-- Thanks for the warm welcome Gentlemen, most kind. Nidal I shall be sure to
come and visit you very soon in Notting Hill, should be down in April some
time so will give you a call. Dave from Townhouse, drop by anytime I'm nearly
always here, shame about Derek moving to New Zealand he is a cracking
bartender. "Rick I don't mix driks etc" well of course use the Julep shot I
can hardly take credit for it, more of a re-discovery or a re-innvention than
anything else but thats by the by. The recipe is dead simple: Take an air
tight jar, a bottle of Bourbon, doesn't have to be anything fantastic, about
15 Sprigs of mint, an 8oz rocks glass full of sugar (would that be 8oz's of
sugar?) mix together and leave for 24 hours then strain through a sieve then
bottle. Stick the bottle in the freezer and when someone orders a Julep shot,
hey presto you're ready to go. Serve with half a sugar dusted strawberry and
enjoy. Great for the GP as well cos it turns one bottle of bourbon into about
1.2 bottles of Julep...I shall leave you with the words of Judge J. Soule
Smith:
" ...then comes the zenith of man's pleasure. Then comes the julep-the mint
julep. Who has not tasted one has lived in vain. The honey of Hymettus brought
no such solace to the soul; the nectar of the Gods is tame beside it. It is
the very dream of drinks, the vision of sweet quaffings." He continues in much
the same vain but the bars filling up so I'd better go. Cheers -Jake!
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me, than a full frontal lobotomy....
